The Difference between African Runners and Western Runners

The major difference between African runners and Western runners is technique. The African runners, in this video, are landing underneath their centers of gravity, and the Western runner lands on her heel in front of her center of gravity. Which, of course, results in breaking with every step.

  1. Desiree Davila has outstanding natural running form. Her foot does indeed land under her Center of Mass, and her arm swing is forward and back without crossing her chest. I suggest you review this video again.

  2. I have. I'm sorry you are wrong. She is very clearly landing in front of her center of gravity. I suggest you review it again.

  3. Awesome find Ken, I've been searching the internet for something like this. I agree with you, the western runner extends her leg out and at the moment of impact her heel is definitely in front of her. This is particularly obvious at sec. 22; not sure how this can be disputed but hey, we're all here to learn right. Great site. -Justin
